Advancing git literacy through talks and workshops. Great for beginners, even better for pros. May the forks be with you.
“Life’s better with Git hooks” - Deepank Vora
Git can be tailored to trigger custom scripts at key points in the development lifecycle. In this talk, we’ll learn how we can make our life better with Git hooks.

It’s high time we had our third meetup!
This meetup is aimed at both beginners and people who have over 10 years of Git experience (wait a minute…). We hope to stretch your Gitability level, and better your understanding of version control systems!

Patchwork is a self-directed hands-on workshop for learning Git and GitHub. You will be able to go at your own pace, with the help of a community mentor nearby in case you run into any trouble. Join us for an afternoon of hacking and snacking and make some new friends while you’re at it!
No programming experience needed!
Forks you don’t eat with? Branches not made of wood?
Newcomers to Git and GitHub
You’ll leave with a merged pull request, a square on your contributions graph, and confidence to get more involved in the open source community.
Mentors
If you’ve ever had a pull request merged, now is your chance to share the love and help someone else create magic.
GitHubbers @jesseplusplus, @donal, and local community mentors, will be on hand to walk you through the Hello World tutorial, answer your questions, help you create your first open source project and achieve your first merged pull request.
We’ll begin with a story about getting started in open source, spend time on the tutorial in small groups, and then close things out with a lightning talk from open source community member.
Once registered, you’ll receive an email before the event with details about the tutorial. Food and refreshments will be provided.
Mentors, you’ll receive an email a few days before the event with details about what to expect and the curriculum. We’ll be teaching Git concepts and making a Pull Request using the GitHub Flow and Hello World tutorial guide.

It’s time for the second meetup!
This meetup is aimed at both beginners and people who have over 10 years of Git experience (wait a minute…). We hope to stretch your Gitability level, and better your understanding of version control systems!
Debugging with Git - Ryan Dao
Git is more than just a version control system. It’s also one of the best debugging tools if used correctly. In this talk I’m going to show how Git and Delta Debugging can be used to help identify issues in your codebase.
Interactive rebasing with Git - Jason Chionh
In this short talk, we’ll go through the command “git rebase -i”. This is git rebasing in interactive mode. You can use it to organize local commit history. Specifically, we’ll look at squashing many commits into one commit and re-ordering commits.
